With a rich mix of influences from Indians, Chinese, Spanish and Americans, Manila is the vibrant capital of the Philippines and its cultural and economic centre. Thanks to the trade with Latin America during the three centuries of Spanish colonisation, Manila became an important city, known as the ‘Pearl of Orient’.
Don’t miss a visit to the Spanish remains in the Intramuros district. Important landmarks in the area are the Malacañan Palace, the City Hall, and the Manila Cathedral.
Rizal Park is a national icon, while the Baywalk promenade is great for enjoying the well-known city sunsets. Ermita and Malate districts are famous for the nightlife, trendy shopping and restaurants, as well as for some luxury Manila hotels. Between the promenade and the districts, its easy to see why Filipinos call Manila, “The City of Our Affections” where the people's love affairs with fashion, music, entertainment and sheer fun are on bright and beautiful display.
Divisoria is a traditional district for local shopping, bargains and typical food. Binondo is the oldest Chinatown in the world.
For hotels in Manila near the airport, Ninoy Aquino International Airport is not far from Makati City, where a second cluster of hotels are located.
Manila is hectic for sure! This is where you’ll fly into the Philippines as the beginning of your journey so a couple of nights stay is fine before you travel and see the real amazing highlights of this beautiful country, amazing culture and friendly people.

Manila has good food.
Manila has good food. Try halo-halo to help you with the hot weather here
For transport I would recommend booking through ride hailing apps for safer and smoother transactions. Avoid those white regular taxis. You can book Grab for convenient car ride around the Metro, motorcycle option (Move It, Angkas, Joyride) is also common in Manila bec of the traffic. Food delivery is also available in the Grab app with lots of options.
For clothing, the usual H&M, Zara, Nike, etc. is everywhere, for local brands you can try taking home from Bench or Penshoppe which is cheaper and good quality
Airport, make sure to be there earlier since immigration and check in counters can be very long and slow. Can be very traffic going there as well
Avoid walking around sketchy places and neighborhoods especially at night.
BGC, Ortigas and Makati are pretty safe places
Card payment available almost everywhere, except of course on street food and jeepneys/buses/train
Tipping, not mandatory unlike other countries but staff/crew would be glad to accept anything

Metropolitan Manila is a very interesting Asian City.
Metropolitan Manila is a very interesting Asian City. The US Dollar to Philippine Peso exchange rate was favorable to US travelers, so meals, taxis/Grab ride-shares and hotel prices were made more affordable. Tons and tons of restaurants and entertainment options available just about everywhere you go. Spas and massages are very reasonably priced, and so are beauty and nail salons. There are at least 4 major casinos: Okada, City of Dreams, Solaire and Newport (?). Dampas are a must for first time travelers-this is a place where you buy your seafood from a fresh market and take your purchase to a nearby restaurant to have them cooked to your specifications (for a separate fee, of course). Shopping malls are numerous and a great draw for crowds, especially on weekends. Post-COVID major name entertainment is coming back, but still a little on the slow side at this point.

Manila is good for those that wanted to see the city and who loves to shop as it is where you will find the biggest shopping mall in Asia (Mall of Asia). There are also places where you can see and experience the history and culture of the Philippines (Visiting Intramuros and Luneta for example).

I like the room size. It was good for 4.
I like the room size. It was good for 4. What I did not like is the sockets int room are not working. The H2O Hotel is not PWD friendly, They do not have spaces for people for wheelchair. I am furious.
The hotel was conveniently located in Makati. The staff, from the security officer that greeted me to the front desk to room service, was courteous, helpful and professional. The room was clean, spacious and had a wonderful view of the Makati/Manila skyline. The King size bed was comfortable, with an awesome comforter. The food from the hotel restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. Despite being in quarantine, I enjoyed my stay at Lub d Hotel and would highly recommend it to fellow expats and visitors alike.
Sofitel has been our GO TO Hotel whenever we are here in Manila. Breakfast overall, Awesome, lots of very good , yummy Choices. From healthy foods down to a more challenging ones , meaning “ there goes our diet “. Delicious breakfast.
Our room on the 1st night was perfect, got an upgrade for a luxury superior king , thanks to the front desk staff( her name is Leah) assisting us during check in . Also offered the discounted breakfast as part of the promotion going on . Just perfect. Thank you Sofitel.
Proximity from the airport. Given that I have my senior parents with me, upon arrival in Manila, I opted to have them in a nearby hotel rather than endure Manila's traffic straight off from their flight.
We were there for 3 days. Since we stayed during the start of the holy week, having to do a 3min walk to the church helps so that we don't get heat stroke. The Newport Mall is also a few blocks away.
Breakfast is good, there is variety as well daily.
At Aurora Suites — My last day stay here in Manila.. I found this so cutie place and good ambiance. You will really love the place .. so nice and quiet. The staff of the hotel are very accommodating and friendly .. What makes me amazed is they have this free unlimited noodles and coffee and milo if you like and unli water sa dispenser dba so amazing 🤩 and lastly very near sa NAIA airport .. The price is so cheap with includes breakfast already 🤭
I stayed in this hotel because of its location on this trip having stayed in other very nice hotels in Manila. This is a modern, beautifully designed family friendly hotel with all the amenities any traveller would need. I had friends with children join me and they loved the pool and children's play facilities. Buffet Dinner is excellent..!!! I ate mainly at the poolside bar where the friendly staff served really nice food and drinks.
Very far from the airport. The location is misleading. It says 500 meters. Ridiculous. It is 5 km from terminal 3 which is 30min if there is no traffic. Which is never in Manila. 30min is lucky make that blessed if you get it by an hour. You have to go through a scary Street to get to the hotel. No its not a hotel even. It is a very very cheap sleeping room. Filthy inside. No tissues. No drinking water.
I used Rain as a base during a 12 hr layover and it was perfect. The room was clean and comfortable and quiet. The staff were lovely and helped with an early check in. Rain is less than 15 mins from any terminal which is amazing in Manila terms when it can take over an hour to drive 5km. I had a Moroccan themed room- so much nicer than a bland airport hotel. Good Wi-Fi so I could do some work too.
Great value for money. It was probably half the cost of its competitors but in a better location. The customer service and access to parking made my stay very comfortable. The best part was the location. I will rebook at this hotel next time I'm in Manila because it's close to Greenhills, Makati and Quezon City. A bonus was the generous cocktail hour, upbeat vibe and decor.
I adore Hotel 101 for its wonderful ambiance and delightful staff. The cleanliness and refreshing scent of the place never fail to impress me. What truly sets it apart is its convenient location near the airport, malls, churches, and more. Whenever I visit the Manila area, I unfailingly choose to stay at this hotel.
The room is tastefully decorated, and I really liked the finish on the flooring. The hotel really benefits from a rooftop bar which gives you unspoiled views across Manila and Makati, and is especially magical at night. The hotel is also situated near quite a few food options and the local Shopwise supermarket.
We had a layover in Manila with an early international flight following the next morning. For this purpose, the hotel was the perfect fit. It is quite close to the Airport and they offer a Shuttle service from there to the hotel and vice versa for 900 PHP (as of February 2024) one way.
I like to stay in Go Hotel Manila Airport Road.Near to go in the airport. The staff and security are very good and alert for their juty.Accessable and fastest to bring your foods order by online .Thank you.Youre doing great job..Keep going sir & ma'am.Your service are highy appreciated.
this place is extremely convenient, being walking distance from Terminal 3 of the airport. We arrived quite late (11pm) and the host was extremely accommodating. The apt itself is quite spacious and offers everything you need. Much better than the hotels we had stayed in Manila
This is the second hotel i’ve been too in the manila ad it’s the best. I had to book another night because it’s been the greatest experience. Everyone is so nice and very clean hotel. I would book this hotel everytime i one back to manila. definitely would recommended it.
We stayed the second time at U Hotels Makati and were really enjoying it. Well located within Makati. Rooms are good. Staff are very friendly and the coffee is amazing. A special thanks to Lorian, Connie, Al and Gav. We will coming back if we are staying in Manila.
I like how comfy the bed is.with the affordable accommodation and good location, you get what you paid for in a good way.since i travel to manila for work, i get to spend a night or 2 in hotels around makati and so far this is the best
My first time in Makati city Metro Manila. Wow, what a sensational view from the restaurant on the 32nd floor. Staff go above and beyond to assist. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again in the future.
Nice hotel in the middle of Makati (best area in Manila). the location and the staff were great. However, the room is small compared to other hotels in the same area looking at he same daily rate.
i stay in this hotel 4 times, and when i come back to Manila, i will stay there, Everything is nice and amazing, even the staff, who are so kindly and good
